Financial details of the arrangement weren't disclosed. The non-exclusive deal marks Hulu's first foray into Spanish-language content, though senior vp of content acquisition Andy Forssell says it won't be the last. "A big part of the country is unaware of how impactful Univision has been. It's definitely premium content," he said. "You can expect us to be aggressive in obtaining more Spanish-language premium content." According to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 35.5 million people who live in the U.S. use Spanish as their primary language in their homes. The Univision content will come from several of its Networks, though specific titles haven't been determined since launch is still a few months away. "It's a substantial chunk of their schedule," Forssell said. He said some of the Univision shows will be available to Hulu's free users while other shows will be for Hulu Plus subscribers only. The companies also wouldn't disclose the length of the deal. Hulu, partially owned by NBCUniversal, Disney and Fox, has been considering offers of a buy-out, though Forssell wouldn't comment on the process.
